Davis Bakery and Grocery Store

19108 Centre Street

The Davis Bakery was located in the fifth building south of Main Street on the west side of Centre Street.

Charles Rear built this building in 1911.  The building was divided into two sections.  The back was a bakery shop and the goods were sold in the front.

Sometime after that Mr. Ough owned it.  He baked in the basement of his home just north of it and carried the goods next door to the store.  Mr. Ough sold the building to Mr. Kitely.

Around 1900, Mr. Kitely added the front two rooms to the building.  He operated the bakery and delivered his goods throughout the area.

In 1918, Robert Davis bought the building and the business from Mr. Kitely.  Mr. Davis baked in the basement of his home, the building just south of it.   Later his son, Ernest, took over the building.  Ernest operated it as a grocery store and delivery business.

In 1975, the building was sold and converted into three apartments.
