Methodist Church Manse
19094 Centre Street

The Wesleyan Methodist manse was located in a one and a half story white house on Centre Street (now 19094 Centre).  The deed for the property is dated 1847.  Usually a building would have been built soon after the land was deeded.

The Wesleyan Church was built in 1857.  The Church lists ministers back as far as 1869, although there would have been a minister before that.

Based on this information, it appears that the house was built between 1847 and 1869.

In 1878, the Methodists built their new church on Alice Street (now the United Church).  The building committee met on a regular basis at the manse on Centre Street to discuss the status of the building project.

In 1905, the Methodist congregations of Holt and Mount Albert united.  In 1909, the Holt Church was sold to the Free Methodists and the proceeds from the sale were used for improvements on the parsonage in Mount Albert.  It is not known what the improvements were.

In 1928, this building was sold to Ken and Ida Ross for $1,900 and a new parsonage was purchased from Milton Mainprize for $4,500.  The new parsonage was a house on Alice Street just two houses north of the Church.
