Morton
Brothers Garage was located in the building on the
south side of the Main Street just east of the community
park.
William
and Howard Morton built the original building as a garage
in 1935. In 1939, that building burnt down and a
new garage was built.
William
and Howard were partners until 1961 when Howard bought
out William’s share. In 1968 William took over from
Howard. In 1971, Wilfred Harrison bought the garage.
In
the early 1980’s, George Poulton purchased the building
and converted it into a gas station out front, a convenience
store on the main floor of the building and apartments
on the upper floor.
